Ralph O. Wells

Major Ralph O. Wells, USAF (Ret) was born in Chipley, Florida. He lived in Warner Robins, Georgia since 1970. Major Wells spent over forty years in military aviation as an active flyer and in avionics support.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Forces as a flight engineer-gunner on the B-17.

Wells graduated from Carlisle Military School, attended the Citadel, obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Carolina, received a MSA degree from Georgia College, and was a graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces and the Air War College.

Zoye Marie Downey Lowery

Zoye Marie Downey Lowery, 73, entered into rest on Sunday, July 24, 2011.

Mrs. Lowery was born on October 4, 1937 in Mobile, Alabama. She was a former Paraprofessional for Houston County Board of Education. Her church home was Central Baptist Church, where she was a member of For His Glory Sunday School Class and Monday Morning Prayer Group. She was preceded in death by her parents, James A. Downey and Ora A. Sellers Downey; and brother, Ronnie Downey.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her beloved husband, Alex Lowery; children, Lynn McKinley (Russell), Perry, David Lowery (Carolyn), Forsyth, and Johnny Lowery (Starla), Montgomery, Alabama; grandchildren, Molly Farmer (Brandon), Mathew McKinley (Molly) and Benjamin Lowery; great-grandchildren, Sophia Farmer and Isabella Farmer; and sisters, Pat Hale, Goodlettsville, Tennessee, and Betty Miller, Mobile, Alabama.

WARNER ROBINS - Virginia Wills Howard, 83 of Willow Ave. passed away Friday at her residence.

Mrs. Howard was born in Lowndes County, GA. She was the widow of the late Bryan Hill Howard and was preceded in death by her Son Blair Howard. She was retired from Robins Air Force Base.

Joe Anne Simmons Crawford

Joe Ann Simmons Crawford, 87, of Warner Robins, GA died July 19, 2011 after an extended illness.

She was born on June 28, 1924 in Macon, Georgia, the daughter of Fred and Josie Simmons. She was married to Dr. Carl Crawford who predeceased her in 1997. Joe Ann graduated from A.L. Miller High School of Macon in 1942 and then attended the University of Georgia. 

Eugenia L. Sims

Eugenia L. Sims, 81, entered into rest on July 15, 2011.

Mrs. Sims was born on July 13, 1930 in Talladega, Alabama. She was a homemaker and of the Lutheran faith. Her husband, MSgt. James A. Sims, USAF (Ret.) and parents Paul and Ruth Jones preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Tela Sims, Milledgeville, Anita Sims, Atlanta and Leta Sims, Warner Robins; and granddaughter, Amber Hanson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2011 in the chapel of Magnolia Park Mausoleum with entombment following in Magnolia Park Mausoleum. 

Eldridge Chester

Eldridge Chester, Sr., 93, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 19, 2011.

Mr. Chester was born on January 18, 1918 in Dublin, Georgia. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Army Air Corp and participated in World War II. He later retired from the Air National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel. A self-employed Certified Public Accountant, he retired from Houston County Hospital as an Administrator. He was co-founder of the Mossy Creek Festival, and was a member of Central Baptist Church. His parents, Hyman A. Chester and Alberta Smith Chester, preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Carolyn Chester; sons E.B. Chester, Jr. (Kay), Phoenix, Arizona, and Bill Chester (Susie), Perry; daughter, Julee Torrance (Bill), Vidalia; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
