Former West Laurens Raider Develops Young Wrestlers
News

WARNER ROBINS, GA--Gerald Carr has been involved in the sport of wrestling for over twenty years.

His career spans from his years at West Laurens High School, where he won three state championships to coaching at his alma mater, where he led the Raiders to five more state titles.

In 2011, he resigned after 10 years at West Laurens to pursue his dream of promoting the sport of wrestling.  Carr opened the Storm Center, where he trains wrestlers ranging from five-year-olds to high schoolers.

"The opportunity came up where I could have my own center and train kids. I love training kids [and] teaching them about wrestling," said Carr.

The Storm Center has trained wrestlers for competitions across the nation under USA Wrestling, which is an amateur foundation for Olympic Wrestling.

"It's the world's greatest and oldest sport, and it's a great conditioning tool for all other sports as well," said Carr.

He has expanded into the Houston County area, and he hopes to continue expanding and educating young people about wrestling.
