The Georgia Department of Transportation announces that work on the project to resurface a 12 mile section of SR 96 in Twiggs County began Tuesday, February 7, a news release says.
This project will resurface 12.3 miles of SR 96 beginning at the Houston/Twiggs County line and continuing through the City of Tarversville to north of Cranberry Lane.
Dykes Grassing Company from Cochran, GA was the low bidder at $2,057,437.39. The current completion date is estimated for October 31, 2012.
There are no time restrictions for this project. A majority of the work will be performed Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. with occasional weekend work. A pilot vehicle will be utilized to assist motorists driving through the work zone.
A single lane closure will be utilized for this work.
Motorists should reduce their speed in this and all work zones.
