Veterans Job Fair

A Veterans Job Fair is scheduled for Thursday, July 21 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter, Miller-Murphy-Howard Building in Perry.

This event is sponsored by The Georgia Department of Labor and The Middle Georgia Employer Committee.

If you'd like to set up a table, the fee is $95 for a covered table, chairs and lunch for employer representatives.

Checks can be made payable to Middle Georgia Employer Committee.

I-75 Lane Closure for Slab Replacement

A single lane is scheduled to be closed on both I-75 North and South around mile markers 117 and 127 a Georgia Department of Transportation news release says.

This is scheduled, weather permitting, for Tuesday, July 5 through Sunday, July 31.

Construction crews are scheduled to replace slabs in those areas, the release says.

Postponed: Lane Closures on I-75 This Week

**This roadwork has been postponed due to weather.

From midnight until 6 a.m. on Wednesday and Friday, a lane will be closed on I-75 northbound and southbound, the Georgia Department of Transportation says.

That's between mile markers 167 and 169.

GDOT Announces Enhancement Projects

 

State Transportation Board member Jim Cole announced Thursday over $4.5 million in Transportation Enhancement (TE) program funds for 10 projects in Bibb, Houston, Irwin, Jasper, Jones, Newton, Tift and Turner counties.

That's according to a Georgia Department of Transportation news release.

 

Originally established in 1991 by the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA), the TE program was continued by the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act – A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU) in 2005. The federally-funded TE program funds multi-use facilities such as walking and biking trails and paths; streetscaping and landscaping projects in cities and towns; historic preservation of transportation-related facilities like railroad depots; and scenic preservation of views and scenic byways.

The Small Business of the Month Committee of the Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce presented Lowe Toyota Rent A Car with the Small Business of the Month Award for April 2011.

“Toyota Rent A Car exhibits the utmost in customer service,” said David Carr, Small Business of the Month committee co-chair.  “Renting a car on several occasions has been a pleasure. Their staff is very courteous and friendly.  They have bent over backwards to give us what we have needed and truly go out of their way to satisfy a customer.”

Chamber President Ed Rodriguez echoed Carr’s sentiments explaining that he also had a great experience with the quality service at Lowe Toyota Rent A Car.
