Houston County Sharks Basketball Schedule

 

HOUSTON COUNTY, GA – The Houston County Sharks team is in the midst of basketball season. The next game will be on Feb. 2, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. The game will be played away against the Atlanta Wolfpack.

The Sharks games are played on Saturdays.  The remaining basketball season schedule follows. 

·                     Feb. 9, 2013, Houston County Sharks vs. West Georgia Wolverines, 3:00 p.m., away

·                     Feb. 23, 2013, Houston County Sharks vs. Atlanta Wolfpack, 11:00 a.m., Bonaire Middle School

Veterans High Hosts Special Olympics Winter Games

Veterans High Hosts Special Olympics Winter Games

 

HOUSTON COUNTY, GA – Special Olympics Winter Games will be held Jan. 18, 2013, 9:30 a.m. to about 2:00 p.m. at Veterans High School in the gym.  About 150 students in grades six through 12 have signed up to participate in the basketball competition.  The event will begin with a short program welcoming the student athletes, parents and teachers, followed by an introduction of each school.

This is the first time the school system will hold the Winter Olympics.  The event will allow student athletes the opportunity to qualify for the State Winter Special Olympics Games which will be held Jan. 25 - 27, 2013, in Atlanta.  About 20 Houston County youth will qualify for the state event during the local games. 

When not competing, the students will enjoy “Fun City” upstairs in the gym.  There will be face painting, arts and crafts and more for the young student athletes.

WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the float winners of the 55th Annual Robins Regional Chamber Christmas Parade.  The winners are as follows:  Best Religious Float- Lighthouse Baptist Church; Best Business Float- Happy Hour Recycling Center; Best Small Business Float- Buzzell Heating and A/C; Best Civic Float: Rebuilding Together Warner Robins; Best Miscellaneous Float- David A Perdue - Prancing Pandas; and Best Marching Unit- Nola Brantley Memorial Library.

WR Rec All Stars Win Old Capital South Tournament

Warner Robins Recreation All Star boys 10-U team participated in a weekend long tournament at the Milledgeville Recreation Center over the weekend.

They won first place in the Old Capital South Tournament 10-U and are runnerups in the Southwest Regional National Tournament 10-U.

The boys celebrate their win Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Recreation Department.

Colby Dee to Headline The 55th Annual Robins Regional Chamber Christmas Parade

WARNER ROBINS, GA- The 55th Annual Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade will feature local artist and rising Nashville star, Colby Dee as Grand Marshal.  Presented by American Chiropractic Specialists, this year’s parade is themed “The 12 Days of Christmas.”  Other parade sponsors include Dress Your Up Formals, Golden Key Realty and Robins Federal Credit Union.  The parade will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012 with a 10:00 a.m. start at the intersection of Houston Road and Watson Blvd.
