WRRD Track Team Goes to State Meet

The Warner Robins Recreation Department is proud to send 29 qualifying participants to the Georgia Recreation & Parks Association State Track & Field Meet this upcoming weekend in Carrollton, Georgia. This is the largest contingency the WRRD has sent in recent years.

In preparation for the State Meet, the track team participated in 6 local meets, 2 out of county meets and the District Meet held in Walton County.

Houston County has raised over $156K with 1540 participants for Relay for Life 2012 so far.

That's according to the Relay for Life website.

Houston County's Relay for Life takes place May 18 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter.

PIO Tabitha PughPublic Information Officer (PIO) Tabitha Pugh was asked to participate in the 2nd annual celebrity wheelchair football game at Warner Robins High School on April 23rd. 

Local celebrities played against the Houston County Sharks' junior varsity wheelchair football team.  The celebrities were known as the Guppies.  Some of the team members included Board of Education member Tom Walmer, Superintendent Dr. Robin Hines, Southside Baptist Pastor Dr. Jerry Walls, City of Warner Robins Mayor Chuck Shaheen, Perry Chamber CEO Stacy Campbell, and high school and middle school athletic directors and coaches. 

The adapted sports program was created in 2008 to offer students who have physical disabilities the chance to play sports in wheelchairs.
