Houston County Middle School Idol

HOUSTON COUNTY, GA – The Houston County Middle School Idol will be held Jan. 9, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. at Feagin Mill Middle School in the cafeteria.  Tickets will be $10 at the door.

The final performers, who were chosen after two auditions, are listed below by school.

·         Feagin Mill Middle:  Taylor Johnson, Adlih Leggette, Julian Santos, Grace Thomas and

     Alex Williams.

·         Mossy Creek Middle:  Cacee Clowers and Mary Grace Moore.

·         Perry Middle:  Sherlon Farmer, Madeline Geiger and Emma O'Neal.

·         Thomson Middle:  Daisy Astudillo, Taylor Beasley, Aria Buzhardt, Kiri Connell, Holden Mathison, Curtis Noles and Mishael Smith.

Warner Robins, Northside named fifth best rivalry in U.S.

Warner Robins, Northside named fifth best rivalry in U.S.

The Warner Robins, Northside high school rivalry came in fifth place in USA Today's Best High School Football Rivalry competition.

The Houston County schools were among 10 rivalries selected from a field of 254 pairings from around the country.

Fans voted for their favorite rivalries and the Houston schools netted 78,012 votes. The top vote getter was Bunn and Louisburg in North Carolina with 823,907.

Houston County's school superintendent is telling parents their voices have been heard: The district is canceling plans to combine three elementary schools.

In a letter sent to parents Thursday, Robin Hines wrote that most people at a hearing this week opposed rezoning the Lindsay, Parkwood and Westside elementary schools.

Each school currently holds pre-K through grade 5.

·         The Houston County High boys’ basketball team is buying Christmas gifts for elementary students in Red Fox Run and will personally deliver the gifts.  For more information, please contact Principal Dr. Michelle Masters at 478-988-6340.

 

·         Tucker Elementary’s student lighthouse team did a tremendous job planning, advertising, collecting, and tallying 277+ cans of tomato soup for Perry Volunteer Outreach.  Principal Dr. Kim Halstead said, “They would make GREAT interviewees.  They are available between 8:30-3:30 each day.”  She added that the cans on display in the front will make a great photo op.  In addition, the Santa Shop is available for shoppers through next week. Houston County students perform holiday concert at Galleria Mall

Twenty elementary school choruses from Houston County will perform at the Galleria Mall in Centerville beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Dec. 14, 2013.  They will perform throughout the day near the food court until 7:30 p.m.

International City Optimist Club contributes $1500 to Friends of Northside Middle School

International City Optimist Club contributes $1500 to Friends of Northside Middle School

International City Optimist Club - Friend of Youth goes all in to support kids at Christmas. This donation for $1500 goes to the Friends of Northside Middle School who are buying gifts for students and their families who are in need. Janet Richmond accepted the check at our weekly meeting on Nov. 25.
