Houston Co. Teacher Nominated for Educator Grammy | Schools
Next February, one Houston County music educator may just find a shiny trophy in her hand.
Faye Boyer, a Lake Joy Primary School music teacher, has been nominated for the Music Educator Award Grammy, according to a news release.
A former student of Boyer's, who is now a teenager, nominated her.
"I am humbled by the nomination. To be considered by a teenage, former student not only validates music education, but reminds us all of the value of a teacher. We have a unique, but very brief opportunity to positively impact the lives of students. I love what I do every day," Boyer said in a release.
She is now considered one of 217 quarterfinalists. More than 30,000 teachers were nominated across the 50 states.
The Recording Academy introduced the new category this year, where people could vote online. The Music Educator Award winner be announced in February 2014.
Those who were nominated invited to then fill out an application.
