Winter Blanket Drive-By to Benefit Local Homeless Animals

To donate items that will benefit local shelter and rescued animals, drop off items at Southwood Animal Hospital or Perry Animal Hospital.

Donations will be accepted until January 2, 2011 at 5 p.m.

Star Bright Animal Rescue & Sanctuary, Inc. will distribute the donations to local animal control facilities in Warner Robins and Perry as well as to other local rescue groups.

Items needed:

old blankets and comforters
old towels
dog and cat treats/toys
large, used crates
large, used dog houses
leashes and collars
dog and puppy food
cat and kitten food

Southwood Animal Hospital is located on Moody Rd. in Warner Robins and Perry Animal Hospital is located on Courtney Hodges Blvd. in Perry.

Local Animal Rescue Asks for Nut Donations

Star Bright Animal Rescue is asking pecan tree owners to donate any 2010 excess crop to help raise money.

The shelter will turn the crop into local processors and the money will help pay for the medical care of area homeless animals.

Star Bright Animal Rescue is a non-profit, charitable organization located in Byron and Perry and is also a licensed shelter with the Department of Agricultre.

On average, the shelter has 25-30 animals costing $1000 or more a month, Cathy Compton of Star Bright Animal Rescue says.

Donations will be accepted through Dec. 17.

Drop-off locations:

Star Bright Animal Rescue, 3101 Moseley Rd. in Byron

Southwood Animal Hospital, 2523 Moody Rd. in Warner Robins

Perry Animal Hospital, 633 General Courtney Hodges Blvd.

All proceeds will go to the medical care of the animals.
