Robins Regional Military Affairs Committee Hosts 2nd Annual Community Golf Tournament Featuring RAFB

Warner Robins, GA- The Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee will host the 2nd Annual Robins Cup Golf Challenge, May 3, 2013 at Houston Lake Country Club. The purpose of the event is to have a day of fun while appreciating and further enhancing the already great relationship between Robins Air Force Base and the local community.

“The Robins Cup highlights the community’s strong relationship with Robins Air Force Base in a fun and competitive fashion,” said Morgan Law, President of the Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The event will match 36 senior leaders from Robins Air Force Base with 36 community leaders competing in an 18 hole, two person scramble, match play event.

Chamber Hosts 2013 Youth Leadership Robins Region Graduation

WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce will honor 24 outstanding high school juniors at the 2012/2013 Youth Leadership Robins Region Graduation.  Event will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the Museum of Aviation (Scott Theatre).

After a vigorous six month program, 24 budding leaders will be recognized and honored for completion of the Youth Leadership Robins Region Program.  The Youth Leadership RR program exposes young leaders to the key elements that form a strong and dynamic community and thus encourages their input and creativity.  It makes students aware of the many opportunities for them to remain in the Robins Region after their post-secondary education by equipping students with the tools needed for future leadership roles in our society.  Selection was based on character, interest in the community and the desire to shape idea and attitudes in others.

Chamber Dubs Dress You Up Formals March Business of the Month

WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Business of the Month Committee of the Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce presented Dress You Up Formals with the March Business of the Month Award, sponsored by Ambassador Personnel.

Founded in 2005, by owner Rochelle Arias, Dress You Up Formals started as a home-based business and grew into a store front in 2009.

“Rochelle is an active volunteer throughout the Robins Region and the Chamber is proud to recognize this,” said Morgan Law, Chamber President.  “She is a dedicated small business owner with a family that supports her and the business 100% of the time.”

WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Robins Regional Chamber’s Small Business of the Month Committee presented Hope Hicks, Program Services Coordinator for Houston County Habitat for Humanity, with the Outstanding Employee Award for March 2013.  The award presentation is sponsored by Spherion Staffing Services of Middle Georgia.

As Program Services Coordinator at Houston County Habitat for Humanity, Hope serves as the Volunteer Coordinator, leads Habitat’s Family Selection process and manages their Family Support Program.  Over the last year she scheduled over 500 volunteers who built one house and repaired three other homes.

Houston County Jobless Rates Below Georgia Average

Houston County's jobless rate was 7.2 percent in February compared to Georgia's 8.6 percent and metro Macon's nine percent.

The Georgia Department of Labor says  February unemployment declined to nine percent in metro Macon.

According to a release, that's down from February 2012, when unemployment for metro Macon was 10 percent.

Georgia's February unemployment rate is 8.6 percent, not seasonally adjusted.

From January to February, metro Macon gained 500 jobs and fewer people were laid off.

Most jobs were added in the professional, business, education, health care, trade, transportation, warehousing, leisure and hospitality industries as well as in in local government.

Metro Macon includes Bibb, Crawford, Jones, Monroe and Twiggs counties.

21st Century Partnership to Hold Quarterly Meeting

21st Century Partnership to Hold Quarterly Meeting

The 21st Century Partnership holds a quarterly meeting at the Museum of Aviation Thursday at 10 a.m. according to a release.

That's in the Museum of Aviation Eagle Building.

A Middle GA Regional Commission will also give an update on BRAC studies that the Partnership requested.
