HOUSTON COUNTY, GA – The Houston County School System offers students and parents numerous online study guides and testing tips.  Review materials for upcoming state assessments are posted to the Houston County Board of Education Testing Department page at http://www.hcbe.net/testing.aspx

Additional Georgia High School Graduation Test review materials supplied by the Teaching and Learning subject area coordinators have been posted to this site in an area named Georgia High School Graduation Review Materials.  These materials include practice assessments for some subjects and math videos to assist the students reviewing.

Each major assessment is hyperlinked below for quick access to testing dates and guides.  A list of some of the materials available on the Testing Department website follows.

The Warner Robins Police Department is pleased to announce a partnership with WiredBlue to offer the agency’s “MyPD” smart phone application for iPhone and Android users.

The “My Police Department” or “MyPD” app was developed by WiredBlue in an effort to connect law enforcement agencies with their communities through the technology and convenience of a smart phone application.

The “MyPD” app features department contacts, access to the agency’s social media accounts, allow users to submit questions, and the ability to submit anonymous crime tips through the TipSubmit service. ... Read More

President Carter Presents Postcard Contest Awards to Local Students

 

HOUSTON COUNTY, GA – Six students won awards in the 2012 “Digging Peanuts in Plains” postcard contest, to include two first place winners:  Mossy Creek Middle School eighth grader Tucker Mercier and Warner Robins High School twelfth grader Alexander Rivera.  President Jimmy Carter presented the awards at the Peanut Festival parade held in Plains, Ga., home of the 39th president, on Sept. 15, 2012.

More than 8,000 students in grades kindergarten through twelfth competed this year.  Alex’s art is pictured left.  His graphic arts teacher is Jody Wayne.  Tucker’s art is pictured right, and his teacher is Donna Burner.  Their postcard art is on display at the Plains High School Museum and online at www.jimmycarter.info under “In the Spotlight.”

WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Robins Regional and Perry Area Chambers of Commerce will host an information session regarding the upcoming vote on the proposed Charter Schools Amendment.  The event will be held from 6:00- 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Robins Regional Chamber; 1228 Watson Blvd. in Warner Robins.

Houston Healthcare to be Featured at  Chamber’s Quarterly Eggs & Issues Breakfast

WARNER ROBINS, GA- Houston Healthcare’s CEO, Cary Martin will discuss items concerning our local hospital and the programs it sponsors, as well as its future plans at the next Eggs & Issues Breakfast of the Robins Regional Chamber.  The event will be Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. in Hangar One at the Museum of Aviation.

This month’s breakfast is sponsored and hosted by Houston Healthcare.  The breakfasts are designed to keep community members abreast of local & state issues.  This is one of six in a series that the Chamber holds throughout the year and provides a public platform to discuss current issues affecting the citizens in the Robins Region.  The program features a presentation followed by a question-and-answer session.  The public is invited to attend and can register by sending an email to rsvp@robinsregion.com.

Chamber Hosts Ribbon Cutting for Leadership Robins Region Project

WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce cut the ribbon in celebration of the 2012 Leadership Robins Region’s class project, Helping Houston Housing.

"As a class, we wanted to make sure we provided resources based on the needs of the community,” said LRR class member, Dairlyn Brown.  “Before we finalized our plans for the 3H project, we contacted the Housing Authority to ask them what their needs were.”

Brown says that the Housing Authority identified areas of necessitate, including the need for computer labs for the residents and the desire for shutters to be installed for a housing area to enhance curb appeal.

“We worked with the Houston County Housing Authority to provide technology support in 3 different housing areas: Merry B. Terry, Jimmy Rosenberg and Kathleen Bynum.”  Brown said.  “Three computers with added software and one printer were installed in each of the locations.”

WRRD Sectional Punt, Pass & Kick Competition

The Warner Robins Recreation Department hosts a Sectional Punt, Pass & Kick competition on Sunday, October 28th at Perkins Field at 1 p.m.

The participants will be winners from eleven local competition sites from south and west Georgia. The participants will be boys and girls ages six through fifteen.

The results from this sectional will be compared with the results from other sectionals to determine the winners. The winners will advance to the championship which will compete at a future Atlanta Falcons home game.

Everyone is invited to come out and support the participants in this event.
