Chamber honors Karla Smart, RN as Outstanding Employee for November

WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Robins Regional Chamber’s Business of the Month Committee presented Karla Smart, RN, Asst. Nurse Manager for Caring Solutions Pregnancy Center with the Outstanding Employee Award for November 2013.  Potential winner must be employed by a member of the Robins Regional Chamber, offers quality customer service and is dedicated to his employer.  The award presentation is sponsored by Spherion Staffing Services of Middle Georgia.

Karla is a 20-year labor/delivery veteran nurse who has chosen to work for Caring Solutions, a non-profit organization, to provide excellent care to their unique clients.

“Karla could work anywhere in Houston county and make 4 times what we are able to pay her,” said Laura Caum, Director for Caring Solutions’ Warner Robins office.  “Instead she has a heart and mind for our work in crisis pregnancy.”

International City Optimist Club contributes $1500 to Friends of Northside Middle School

International City Optimist Club - Friend of Youth goes all in to support kids at Christmas. This donation for $1500 goes to the Friends of Northside Middle School who are buying gifts for students and their families who are in need. Janet Richmond accepted the check at our weekly meeting on Nov. 25.

This is a new tradition: the International City Optimist Club - Friend of Youth awards its first-ever “ Community Friend” award to Kerry Bacon. Hundreds of kids over several generations in Houston County have learned tennis under Bacon. He says he has been at it for 39 years!

VHS Cheerleaders win back-to-back state championship

HOUSTON COUNTY, GA – Veterans High School’s cheerleading team won first place at the AAAA State championship this past Saturday.  This is Veterans’ second state title, having won in 2012.  The Varsity cheerleaders are pictured with their trophy, medals and championship t-shirts.

Chamber to host Warner Robins Mayoral debate, featuring Musselwhite and Toms

WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce will host the 2013 Mayoral Debate for the City of Warner Robins.  The event will be held next Thursday, November 21st from 6-7p.m. in the auditorium at the Warner Robins Campus of Central Georgia Technical College, located at 80 Cohen Walker Drive.

Featured Candidates for the 2013 Warner Robins Debate include Joe Musselwhite and Randy Toms.

This event is designed to be an official platform in which the candidates vying for the seat as Mayor of Warner Robins can present their platforms and discuss issues of city-wide concern.  The program will feature brief remarks from candidates, followed by a moderated debate.

Chamber Hosted a Ribbon Cutting for Douglas C. Duncan Enterprises, LLC

WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for Douglas C. Duncan Enterprises, LLC.

“I buy, sell, and lease real estate,” said Douglas Duncan, owner.  “However, my main focus is to become an asset to the City of Warner Robins with the intention to house orphan children, the mentally ill, the homeless and the elderly.

Douglas says he would like to contribute to the well-being of the community through youth, housing and outreach projects.
