Macon, GA- The CGTC Lady Cougars beat the nationally ranked (NJCAA #15) and #1 seeded (GCAA) Darton Lady Cavaliers 82-79.

CGTC led for the bulk of the game almost blowing an eleven point lead with 3:15 left in the second half. Freshman standout Ta'Kierra Gibbs (Putnam Co. High) led all scorers with 26 points and she added 11 rebounds. Sophomores Shermika Harris (18 pts) and Jasmine Grier (10 pts) both scored in double digits, while Grier added 11 rebounds to have a double-double.

Darton College led for only 4 minutes of the first half and had the score tied 36-36 at the half. The Lady Cavs had 5 with double digit scoring and 3 with double-doubles. Tamarah Fisher, Jasmine Wilson, and Michelle Mitchell all scored 12 points, while Kadaysha Jones (20 pts - 12 rebs) and Iesha Bonner(14 pts - 10 rebs) added double-doubles.

The CGTC Lady Cougars record improves to 18-4 on the season and the Lady Cavs fall to 19-3. The Lady Cougars will be back in action at home vs. GA Perimerter College on Wednesday January 30th at 5:30 PM.

The CGTC Cougars are riding a two game win streak for the first time this season by knocking 2012 conference champion Gordon State College 63-59.  The Cougars were led by Tyler Kendrick who had a break out game with a double-double (17 points and 10 rebounds).  Derreontae Moore also added 16 points as 4 players were ejected for a scuffle during the second half.  2 Gordon and 2 CGTC players will have to sit out the next game with a one game suspension
