Warner Robins Council Buys Walker's Pond

They started with a work session.
That's when Warner Robins resident, Jeff Kressin, presented a unique business venture.

It's a new business he hopes will open before the summer, the equivalent of a wine shop, only for beer lovers.

Next came the council meeting. Where members voted to upgrade the traffic lights on Russell Parkway. A synchronizing project previously done on Watson Boulevard.

"It works, because at certain times during the day I can leave out here and go all the way down watson all the way out to the far westside and not get stopped by a traffic light." explains Councilman Mike Brashear.

He says the city plans to have the upgrades done by the end of the year.

And when you thought the meeting was over council added another agenda item on the fly.

They agreed to buy Walker's Pond.

"Back in the fifties it was a race track. It's been a lot of different things." says Councilman Mike Davis.

The park is located near North Houston Road and councilman Mike Davis says he hopes to spruce it up.

"Mainly I just want a place in town where people can take their kids, we can clean it up and take your kids over there for a picnic. We'll have pavilions or gazebos maybe even a splash park there's some things you can do there." explains Davis.

He says during elections building more parks and recreation for the community was a big issue, and says the citizens didn't go unheard.

The council meetings are open to everyone.
The next meeting will be Monday, February 4th at 5:30PM.
