Northside's Nelson Signs with OSU | News

Just in time for Christmas, one Central Georgia student athlete received the gift of continued education, while continuing to play the sport he loves.

2011 Northside graduate and football standout Steven Nelson signed a letter of intent to play football at Oregon State in Corvallis.

Two years ago the defensive back settled in at College of the Sequoias, a junior college in California. Because of his hard work on the field and in the classroom, several D1 programs came a calling including USC, Oregon, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Baylor, Texas Tech, Kansas, Houston, Fresno State, Washington State, Mizzou and Georgia. Although Nelson says he is glad to be home in the Peach State to visit for Christmas, the Northwest is a better fit for him.

Nelson is listed in the ESPN top 100 Junior College transfers at No. 19 and the top cornerback of that bunch.
