Eagles, Demons on a Mission in State Playoffs

Its round two of the GHSA football playoffs and the International City tag team have plans for a busy playoff filled Friday night.

The Northside Eagles are flying high in typical fashion this time of year. Big blue is currently on a 11 game winning streak while in search for another state title.

This double digit win total marked the fifteenth season in a row that the Eagles have achieved that feat, which is quite impressive. As equally as impressive as their first round 41-13 drubbing of Effingham County. But this week the Eagles face a familiar opponent in former region mate Thomas County Central but Coach Kevin Kinsler says the Jackets prove to be more challenging this go round.

Across town on the southside, thanks to a Matt Monday game winning field goal in the closing seconds of their ball game with Richmond Hill Saturday night, Warner Robins managed to stay alive in the 5A state playoffs with a 17-15 win.

The Demons who are 9-2 on the season now set their sights for a Round 2 road trip to Harris County. Big Red's opponent Friday night suffered early regular season losses to both Veterans and Houston County but Demons Head Coach Bryan Way says its a new season and Harris County is not the same team and challenges his men to not get caught up in the hype.

Game time for the Eagles is Friday night at 7:30 at McConnell-Talbert Stadium. Kickoff for the Demons is Friday Night at 7:30 in Harris County.
