WR 'Good Samaritan' Looking for Family to Help

Sandy Hughes says she wanted to show her 3-year-old daughter, Juno, why people call the holidays "the season of giving."

So she bought "everything you'd need" to make Thanksgiving dinner for a family and placed an ad on Craigslist offering help to folks who may be down on their luck.

But only one person replied, saying they could put Hughes in touch with a family--a single mother with two children.

When that contact person stopped answering calls and emails, Hughes looked the family up on Facebook herself. What she found surprised her.

The family had apparently just purchased a new SUV, and the mother is holding down a "good job."

"It doesn't seem like they are in need at all," Hughes says.

She says the experience so far has been discouraging.

"We don't have a ton of money, but we have enough," she says.

That's why she wanted to share with someone in need--to show her daughter that you don't have to be rich to give to others.

Now she has a house full of food and no one to whom she can give it.

Why not give it to a charity?

It may come to that, but Hughes says she wanted it to be more personal, to give the dinner from one family to another--to show her daughter what it means to give to others.
