It's time for one of the biggest rivalries in Central Georgia and across the Peach State, the annual City Championship in the Warner Robins-Northside football game. And this years there's more than bragging rights on the line, there is also a region title hanging in the balance.

Over on the Northside the Eagles enter the showdown undefeated and ranked number one in 5A. Big blue is powered by a strong running game and special teams play led by seniors Curtis Martin and Keyshawn Hill and a defense that boasts 4 shutouts and yields an average of less than 6 points a game. Trey Payne and Rodney Levine turn on for big blue on that side of the ball.

On the Southside, coach Bryan Way and the Demons are 7-1, with their lone loss coming from Peach County. The Demons have bounced back after that defeat engineered by a stable of running backs that power an offense that averages 39 Points per game. Players like DeAnthony Mack, Rod Harris and DeeDee Wright are ones to watch for. But with a rivalry like this, it doesn't matter what the records are, it comes down to who wants it more..

Northside head coach, Kevin Kinsler who played at Northside during 1978-79 says the stakes of this game are big as always, "It wouldn't matter if we were both 0-7, there would still be alot at stake. So there's no secrets. the kids know exactly whats going on. They're excited about the week of preparation."

Warner Robins head coach Bryan Way, is also a former participant of the series while in high school as a Demon in 1978-79 during the same time as rival Kinsler, agrees that the game is quite an experience. "Always a lot of extra intensity in practice", says Way. "And you have to have great focus and great concentration to put away some of the distractions that are going on at school and around town on the back burner."

Game time is Friday night at 7:30 at McConnell Talbert Stadium
