James Ray Ussery, 37, was arrested on July 2 in Effingham County between Statesboro and Savannah.

On June 23, authorities say Ussery approached two women at a Warner Robins gravesite in his car, pointed a pistol at them both and threatened to shoot them. He drove off with their purses.

The victims identified Ussery from a photo lineup, the release says.

On June 29, he entered a Dollar General store wearing bandages around his face and robbed the clerk at gunpoint.

He stole $900 and left in the same car identified in the gravesite robbery.

The bandages and clothing matching the description in the robbery were found after an anonymous tip led to a search of Ussery's residence.

Ussery was also sentenced to five additional years for possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
