Houston County's district attorney this week dropped charges against a man falsely accused of a crime earlier this year.
That came nearly eight months after prosecutors charged his accuser with falsely reporting a crime.
Earlier this year, Nathaniel Watkins was charged with burglary, aggravated stalking and terroristic threats.
But back in February, his ex-wife Danielle Watkins, twice testified that she lied to police, accusing him of stalking, threats and burglary.
Warner Robins police charged her with falsely reporting a crime.
He spent about 30 days in jail and was released on his own recognizance on Feb. 29.
But this week Erikka Williams, the county's chief assistant prosecutor, filed for a dismissal of the charges.
Her motion cited their "inability to successfully prosecute" the case after Danielle Watkins pleaded guilty to making a false report of a crime.
Nathaniel Watkins' public defender, Angie Coggins, released a statement detailing the case and observing, "The wheels of justice are said to turn slowly; at times they may spin without traction and may even fail to maintain the lane altogether."
