Warner Robins Man Shot Dead in His Apartment | News
CORRECTION: Based on statements from several neighbors, this story originally reported that Joel Taylor had multiple sclerosis. But his mother, Patricia Taylor, told us that's not so. She said he did have sickle-cell anemia, epilepsy, strokes and other health problems and had trouble walking.
Police say a 25-year-old Warner Robins man was shot dead in his apartment Thursday night.
Joel Taylor was inside his Woodcrest Apartments home when, according to a police news release, two men forced open his door. Taylor was shot multiple times. He was transported to the Houston Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
Neighbors described the area to 13WMAZ's Tom George as a quiet place with few problems, though some are growing more concerned.
Neighbors said the 25-year-old looked frail and had trouble walking. They wondered why someone would hurt someone in his condition.
"I just don't know where people come from wanting to kill somebody like that," says neighbor Charlotte Hyatt. "I don't know why anyone would kill someone healthy, but someone like that, that's sad."
Police say they're currently investigating whether the two men who broke into Taylor's home were connected to him in any way. They're asking anyone with information on this case to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at (478) 929-6911.
