Students Hurt as Houston Bus Crashes at Base
News

A Houston County school bus crashed into the fence outside Robins Air Force Base Wednesday afternoon.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. on Highway 247, between the Air National Guard gate and the Green Street gate.

School board spokeswoman Beth McLaughlin says the bus was carrying students from the Bonaire Middle School.

She couldn't say how many students were on board, but said some complained of aches and pains and were treated at a local hospital. She said the injuries appeared milnor.

McLaughlin said the driver was taken to the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.

The students were taken to Lindsay Elementary School for pickup by parents.

She said the cause is under investigation.

The Houston County Sheriff's Department referred questions to the Georgia State Patrol. Investigators could not be reached for comment.
