Ruby Holmes Named to Warner Robins PR Job | News

At Wednesday morning press conference, Warner Robins Mayor Chuck Shaheen named a current city employee to take on the duties of city public relations and media requests.

Ruby Holmes is currently the Program Director for the Warner Robins Recreation Department. Shaheen says she will take on the new role, in addition to her current duties.

Shaheen said Holmes is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University. He says her experience as a former Miss Clark University, along with skills in writing grants, qualifies her for the position.

Holmes will handle open records requests from the media, organize press conferences, and use social media to promote the city.

This spring, Shaheen asked council to hire a full time public relations employee, but council did not agree to the request. He wanted to pay that person about $43,000.

Council agreed to set aside $15,000 to compensate a current city employee for the additional duties.
