Judge Drops John Williams' False-Statement Charge
A Houston County judge this week dropped a charge against former councilman John Williams of lying to police about a lost cell phone.
Judge Ed Lukemire on Monday approved a motion dropping the charge of making a false statement.
Williams is now in federal prison, serving time on a separate case. He was convicted this spring of trying to profit on the city's purchase of a new police car.
We called District Attorney George Hartwig about the dropped charge. He could not be reached for comment.
