UPDATE: Bond Hearing Postponed for Kathleen Teen Accused of Murder
News

The 17-year-old Kathleen girl accused of killing her younger sister on July 3, was set have a bond hearing Thursday, according to the Houston County District Attorney's Office. But around noon Wednesday the defense asked it be taken off the calendar.

Carmen Kaneisha Collins allegedly shot her 12-year-old sister India multiple times, then set the family's Addington Drive house on fire.

Collins is charged with murder and arson.

District Attorney George Hartwig says his office was ready to go with the bond hearing, but defense may have wanted extra time to prepare.

He says it's not unusual that the bond hearing would be postponed in a case like this.

The next opportunity for a bond hearing for Collins will be next Thursday.

Collins is being represented by the Public Defenders Office. No one was available to explain why they decided to pull the bond request off the calendar for Thursday.
