The Kathleen teenager charged with killing her 12-year-old sister waived her first court appearance. That's according to Capt. Beth Schafer with the Houston County Sheriff's Office.
She says Carmen Kaneisha Collins was scheduled to have her first court appearance on July 5, the same day she was arrested in Columbus, but she waived that hearing.
At a first appearance hearing, typically the charges are read and the defendant will be read their rights.
Collins is accused of shooting her sister India last Tuesday evening, then investigators say she set her Addington Drive home on fire.
District Attorney George Hartwig says no date has been set for a bond hearing.
