The priest of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warner Robins says someone vandalized their church.

Father Fred Nijem says it happened Tuesday afternoon sometime between 3:20 and 4:15pm.

He said someone went into the church and emptied at least two fire extinguishers inside the sanctuary.

The church, located on Davis Drive, has plans to celebrate its fifth anniversary in this building on Sunday. Nijem says they will still have the celebratory service.

He says the entire floor and parts of the altar are covered with white powder from the extinguisher.

Pastor Nijem says the church was unlocked at the time of the incident.

He says the damage done ranges in the thousands of dollars and hopes those responsible realize what they have done.
