Tim Thomas Joins Warner Robins Council Race

The 2011 election season is just getting started in Warner Robins.

Monday morning, Tim Thomas became the first candidate to announce he's running for city council.

The 48-year-old businessman says he's running for the Post 2 citywide seat.

Tom Sims. Jr. is currently in that position and says he does not plan to run again.

Thomas says he thinks he can work with the mayor and other council members to promote Warner Robins.

He says, "I don't care who's the mayor of this city, I'm going to work with them. I'm not going to get up here and embarass our city, I'm not going to fuss or fight. I'm not going to call names. If we're going to have an issue, then we need to iron it out. We'll do it behind closed doors. We'll come out and were going to make our city look good, and we're not going to embarrass the city."

Qualifying for Warner Robins' city council begins on Aug. 29.

Also up for election, the Post 4 seat held by Bob Wilbanks and the Post 6 seat held by John Williams.
