GBI searching for evidence in Centerville shooting | News
The GBI is searched a Centerville mobile-home park for evidence in a February shooting at a gas station.
This morning, agents searched a small pond near the Spring Lake mobile home park.
Centerville police chief Sidney Andrews told 13WMAZ's Tom George that the GBI is there at his request, to look for clues in a Feb. 13 shooting at the Pure Gas Station, 820 Houston Lake Blvd..
The shooting left a clerk in critical condition.
A masked gunman entered the gas station that night and demanded cash.
The robber shot Rohitkumar Patel, 38, in the face with a semi-automatic handgun before leaving the gas station with the money, police said.
The search ended around 3 o'clock with no evidence found and no new leads.
Andrews said investigators believe the robber ran off in the direction of the mobile home park.
Patel survived the shooting and has been recovering. A friend told 13WMAZ he is walking and driving again, but hasn't gone back to work.
Anyone with information on the case can call Detective Sgt. Phillip Pritchett at 953-4222.
