Teen wins military 'Youth of the Year' | News
Top military youth across the state vied for a chance to represent Georgia as this year's Military Youth of the Year. A Warner Robins High School student won the honor and a $3,500 scholarship.
Brendan Kennedy is a senior at Warner Robins High, and a member of the Keystone Club. The club promotes leadership and community service at Robins Air Force Base.
Kennedy says a Keystone mentor encouraged him to compete for Youth of the Year.
He says the competition involved a series of interviews, speeches, and essays.
Kennedy says he enjoys volunteering for community service projects.
"They help the community. They make you a better person, and you get to meet some really great people out there."
Kennedy will travel to Atlanta in June, to compete for the Southeast regional title, and a chance to win a $10,000 scholarship.
