GBI recalls arrest warrant for Houston Co. woman

A Houston Co. woman who GBI accused of commercial gambling have been dismissed.

In early January, GBI arrested eight people in Warner Robins for commercial gambling.

ID=4347661Shirley Mitchell was wrongly arrested and charged.

In an email, Sherry Lang, the spokesperson for GBI, says:

"The arrest warrant for Shirley Ann Mitchell was recalled the week of January 13th. Ms. Francenia Sneed Johnson, 56, of Fort Valley was arrested on January 17th after being positively identified by another employee of the store."

13WMAZ's Judy Le spoke to Mitchell who said GBI "didn't even apologize" for the mistake.

She says her granddaughter still has "nightmares about police taking her away."

David Dozier, Mitchell's attorney, released a statement that says, "We have recently been retained by Mrs. Shirley Mitchell to represent her for all matters regarding her arrest on January 3, 2014. Even though the charges against her have been rightfully dismissed, our investigation is ongoing."
