Mayor Toms helps business by signing books | News
Warner Robins Mayor Randy Toms spent the day helping a business, after the store's owner says construction along Commercial Circle put a damper on her sales.
Toms signed copies of his book "Just a Fireman" at The Chic Boutique, Saturday.
Proceeds from the book signing will go to the store.
Owner Gena Deboe says her store suffered a 60 percent decline in sales, while construction took place in the area last December.
Deboe says the book signing brought a crowd of shoppers to Commercial Circle.
Toms says he enjoyed the book signing and meeting people.
"That's what it's all about, getting out here and helping people and doing a good thing, and it's been fun," said Toms.
Deboe said, " It's about to be a new circle with the new sidewalks. People are discovering us again. They're coming back out, and this is exactly what we needed to really give us a shot in the arm and get this area back."
Deboe says they sold over 30 books during the signing.
