Waffle House Regular Celebrates 93rd Birthday

Raymond Ryals turned 93 on Thursday.

He wasn't expecting a big celebration - but store employees at the Waffle House on Watson Boulevard in Centerville surprised him with cake, decorations and a card.

That's because Ryals is one of their regular patrons.

"I wanted him to know that we love him and that we appreciate him being as constant as he has been over the years," John Lewis, a Waffle House associate, said.

The employees there know him well.

Ryals gets to the Waffle House at 7:15 a.m. and has been ordering the same breakfast combo almost every day since 1984.

Waffle House employees call it the "Mr. Raymond."

"The 'Mr. Raymond' is 2 eggs scrambled soft, 2 strips of bacon, he likes them a little bit crispy but not burnt, and toast buttered with one strawberry and one grape jelly," said Lewis.

Ryals is a World War II veteran, who grew up on a farm in Centerville and worked on Robins Air Force Base after serving in the military.
