GA Air Force Association Award Winners Recognized | News
The Georgia Air Force Association held a luncheon to recognize those who have demonstrated outstanding service in a variety of fields.
Some recipients were from the Houston County school district.
Jason Heath, a teacher at Huntington Middle School, won Georgia Teacher of the Year.
Heath says he was nominated by his principal for demonstrating creative ways of teaching science.
"One of the big things was getting with the people from the different science and engineering fields... mathematics fields and coming up with applications that middle school students can do to prepare them for jobs in the science field," said Heath.
Another winner was Clayton Searcy, a student from Bonaire Middle School.
Searcy is a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He won Cadet of the Year.
"I had to show up to the meetings. I had to have a great attitude about it. I was determined to be the best, and I loved it," said Searcy.
Heath will go on to compete for the Air Force Association's national teacher of the year award.
