Perry State Trooper Accused of DUI | News
A Georgia State Patrol trooper was arrested Tuesday evening for allegedly driving under the influence, while off-duty but driving his patrol car.
According to the Georgia State Patrol's public information office, Trooper Marshall Tyler Harris was driving on Interstate 75 near exit 135 when he left the road and struck a guardrail.
Harris left the scene and returned to the patrol post in Perry.
The investigating trooper smelled alcohol on Harris and arrested him. He was booked into the Houston County Jail around 6:30 p.m. and charged with DUI, failure to maintain lane, and leaving the scene of an accident.
Harris was off-duty at the time. There were no other vehicles involved and no injuries.
According to the Houston County Jail website, Harris bonded out of jail Wednesday morning.
He is now an administrative leave with the Georgia State Patrol while the incident is under investigation.
