Northside has State Title in Sights for 2013 | News
WARNER ROBINS - The Northside Eagles are busy preparing for another state championship run in 5A. Big Blue's run at a third title ended with an overtime semi-finals loss last season in Ware County.
The Eagles graduated 38 seniors off last years 13-1 squad including offensive threat, Keshun Hill Head coach Kevin Kinsler says they have 24 seniors ready to step up.
One spot on the field that will get extra attention is the quarterback. Kinsler moved last years starter Glenn Smith to wide receiver to make way for junior Marcus Ivory to become the signal caller. Kinsler says, regardless what starting 22 take to the field on Friday nights, expectations won't change.
"It's always the same goal every year, to win a state championship, 15-0," says junior Glenn Smith.
Smith's coach Kinsler echoes his sentiments.
"I'm just thankful that were at a place where the kids have these lofty expectations. Our coaches do a good job of drilling that into their heads, day in and day out and this year's not going to be any different."
Northside opens the season at home at the newly renovated McConnell Talbert Stadium against Flowery Branch, August 30.
