Eric Langston, newly-elected secretary of the American Federation of Government Employees Local 987 at Robins AFB reports the current union leadership was ousted in a "clean sweep" in today's election.
Robert Tidwell unseated three-term Union President Tom Scott.
Tidwell and his allies won all 12 offices.
Tidwell got 441 votes; Scott 310.
The new leaders take office on November 12.
In a statement, Tidwell referred to the next round of base reductions and the feat that Robins could be eliminated as an Air Logistics Depot.
He said: "We have a lot of work to do as we prepare for the future. We will work hard with RAFB, Warner Robins and the region to ensure that RAFB is the depot of choice for our warfighters."
Langston said, "We turned the landscape upside down. This was a ground war. We won this with boots on the ground. The union members were ready for a change, and that's what they got."
