Warner Robins Girl Sends Care Packages to US Soldiers | Military
Title (Max 100 Characters)
A 10-year-old Warner Robins girl wanted to turn her birthday into a surprise for those who serve and protect our country.
Autumn Ballengee raised enough items to provide care packages for 15 soldiers.
Autumn says she came up with the idea on her own. She started planning and asking for donations last winter.
Friday, Autumn delivered boxes filled with snacks, grooming items, games, and personal letters for each soldier to Hearts to Heroes.
"We know that they're keeping us free and that they're letting us do our free things, and we just wanted to send a big 'thank you' to them because we know that they work really hard," Autumn said.
Organizers at Hearts to Heroes say snacks are a favorite gift item for soldiers.
They say the cost to ship care packages is expensive.
