HMS Student Selected to Attend National All-Star Bowl

HMS Student Selected to Attend National All-Star Bowl

Houston County, GA – Huntington Middle School student Jaylen Lowder was named an Offense-Defense All-American and invited to participate in the 2012-2013 Offense-Defense Bowl Week.  The festivities will take place Dec. 26 through Jan1at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas.  Jaylen was selected while attending the Offense-Defense Football Camp this summer.

Jaylen will play linebacker in an inaugural O-D Can/Am Games in which two All-American teams will play two All-Canada teams.  Jaylen was selected for this honor from a group of young athletes numbering in the thousands across the country.  He represented his school and town well, “easily validating the Bowl Selection Committee’s choice in tabbing Jaylen Lowder for the All-Star tilt,” according to a news release.

Northside Football Player Shot in Warner Robins

A Northside High School football player is recovering at home after being shot in the back on Sunday. According to Warner Robins police spokeswoman Tabita Pugh,  17-year-old Austin Roberts was treated and released at the Medical Center of Central Georgia.

Northside head football coach, Kevin Kinsler says Roberts is a highly recruited defensive end. He is not expected to take the field during this week's game against Veterans High School.

Neighbors say the shooting actually happened on Wendan Way and the victim walked to the 400 block of Camellia Circle for help. They also tell us that the shooting happened when someone fired shots into the air during an argument.

The Warner Robins Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is investigating this incident.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Carder Gravitt at 478-929-6911, TipSubmit, or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
