Warner Robins, Northside named fifth best rivalry in U.S. | HS Sports
The Warner Robins, Northside high school rivalry came in fifth place in USA Today's Best High School Football Rivalry competition.
The Houston County schools were among 10 rivalries selected from a field of 254 pairings from around the country.
Fans voted for their favorite rivalries and the Houston schools netted 78,012 votes. The top vote getter was Bunn and Louisburg in North Carolina with 823,907.
The winner receives $5,000 to be split evenly between the two schools, with other prizes going to all of the national finalists.
Other schools that made the paper's top 10 rivalries were: Leominster vs. Fitchburg in Massachusetts, Westfield vs. Plainfield in New Jersey, Wausau East vs. Wausau West in Wisconsin, Norfolk Catholic vs. Pierce in Nebraska, Upsala-Swanville vs. Royalton in Minnesota, Las Cruces vs. Mayfield in New Mexico and Mater Dei vs. Servite in California and Douglas vs. Bisbee in Arizona.
