HMS CRCT Pep Rally & Military Child Celebration | Families
Huntington Middle School will hold a school assembly on April 8, 2013, for a CRCT Pep Rally to motivate students to perform at their best on the standardized tests. In recognition of “Month of the Military Child,” military-affiliated students will be recognized during the assembly.
Robins Air Force Base 78th Air Base Wing Vice Wing Commander, Col. Patricia Ross, will speak and RAFB Security Forces will have a K-9 demonstration at the rally. Col. Ross will motivate the students to do their best and encourage them to stay focused and study hard for high achievement on the CRCT. The dogs will show them how to attack the CRCT. Military children will also be presented dog tags provided by 4-H.
Additionally, Huntington Middle will recognize military students early that morning with a "Pledge at the Pole" at 7:15 a.m. Military parents are invited to meet at the flag pole with their child for a brief speech and to say the Pledge of Allegiance together. The pep band will play and there will be remarks about being disciplined to stay focused and to study hard for high achievement on the CRCT test. Huntington will also participate in “Purple Up! For Military Kids” on this same day. The entire Huntington family will be asked to wear purple to honor the military child.
April has been recognized globally as “Month of the Military Child” since 1986 to uplift children of military families. Youth are recognized for the sacrifices they make as a result of having a parent in the Armed Forces. Robins AFB and the Houston County Board of Education are partnering to celebrate military students. Dr. Robin Hines and Col. Ross will formally recognize this month during the April 9, 2013, Board meeting by signing a proclamation and recognizing military youth in attendance.
