Dr. Pearson-Kilgore commented, “We are so excited to receive an honor such as this that recognizes the commitment our faculty and staff have to work with our parents, who are our children’s ‘first teacher.’  It truly takes a village to educate our students, so this honor is an attribute to the faculty, staff and parents who are willing to do what it takes to educate our youth.”

“Morningside is proud to have been selected to receive the Georgia Family Friendly Award,” said Dr. Witt.  “This award is a testimony to the commitment our teachers and staff provide to ensure our families feel welcome in their children’s school.  We are dedicated in meeting the needs of our families so that they are better equipped to help their students.  The excellent customer service at Morningside Elementary is just one example of the ‘welcome mat’ all schools in Houston County provide for its students and their families.”

Carla Thorpe, District Parent Coordinator, commented, “We are so excited and pleased that Miller Elementary and Morningside Elementary were chosen for this honor!  These schools are great examples of the excellent parent involvement work taking place in our Title I schools.  Our goal is for all families to feel welcome and to be engaged in their student’s education.”
