Warner Robins MLK Birthday March | Families
Many church goers in Warner Robins spent their morningemulating the past. Different church groups joined forces and marched for about2 ½ miles to pay respect to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The birthday marchstarted at Agape Outreach Ministries and ended at the Warner Robins ChristianMethodist Episcopalian Church. During a short stop in front of Warner RobinsHigh School, a young man, Winton Burnett, performed the famous "I Have A Dream"speech.
"It's just great to see so many children out…let themunderstand what Martin Luther King meant to us, hopefully what he meant tothem," said Houston County NAACP President, Larry Holmes.
One of the coordinators, Sherrie Jefferson, said that in allthe ten years of her organizing for the march, more youth were at this marchthan any before.
"We wanted to show, especially our youth, that we had peopleto fight for what we have now, that we're still fighting," she said.
