Organizing: Planning for Change | Families
Just the other day I met with a new client who has a large bonus room. When she moved into the home 4 years ago, this was where all the extra boxes were put. She’s finally ready to clear out the space but when I asked her what how she wanted the room to function after the decluttering, she looked puzzled. “I hadn’t really thought that far,” she replied.
If you want to declutter, organize or redecorate a space in your home, you need to have a plan. Just saying you want to get organized or give a room a new look is not enough. Would you take a cross country trip with out an itinerary and some carefully plotted waypoints on Google Maps? Would you tackle an Ikea bookcase without the instructions? Some rebels and free spirits may give a resounding “Yes!” but most of us would answer no.
So if you want to make a change, take a little time to consider where you want to end up. This will help guide you in deciding how to get there. Have map, will make progress!
