Made 2B More Hosts Coat Drive

Made 2B More is collecting clean, reusable coats for individuals in Houston County.

Donators can drop off coats Tuesdays through Thursdays 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m.-12 p.m. through Dec. 17.

According to the organization's website, Made 2B More is the opportunity girls need that will empower them with healthy self-esteem and instill strong values so that they can grow up to achieve their dreams and be more. Just a girl? She is more than just a girl. She is made to be more.

Coats can be delivered to the Made 2B More Office at 736 Carroll St Suite 6 (Village Shops) in Perry.

Perry Board Office to Host School Oratorical Contest

The 5th Grade FOCUS Oratorical Contest will be held Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at the Perry Board office at 6 p.m. in the auditorium. 

Eighteen fifth-graders representing all elementary schools will each give a two-minute speech on the topic, “If I Were Leader of the Free World, the First Issue I Would Address Would be ... " 

The school representative is selected by a panel of judges at the school level.

Three judges that will include high school debate coaches and a counselor, will select the top three speakers by using a rubric. The winners will be given a cash award: with first place winning $25, second place $15 and third place $10.  Winners will also be invited to perform at a future Board meeting.  All orators will receive a certificate of participation.

Black and White Gala

A White and Black Gala fundraiser will take place Friday, Dec. 10 from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.at the Galleria Ballroom in Centerville.

The fundraiser will go toward helping high school athletes raise their SAT, ACT, high school graduation test scores, pass the GED and to teach successful life skills.

Peach State Rattlers, Inc. will pay college students to tutor the athletes that will be playing for the Peach State Rattlers,Inc, a Minor League Pro Football team that's coming to Central Ga.

Stevi B's to Open Location in Kathleen

On Thursday, Dec. 9, Stevi B’s will open it first location in Kathleen. 

Stevi B’s will celebrate its grand opening with a pizza cutting ceremony by the Warner Robins Chamber of Commerce.  The ceremony will take place Thursday, Dec. 9 at 11:00 a.m.

In celebration of the Grand Opening, Stevi B’s Pizza will host a VIP fundraising event the day of the official grand opening to benefit Warner Robins American Little League.

The VIP fundraising event will take place Thursday, Dec. 9th from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. and 25 percent of all donations made during the event will benefit the Warner Robins Little League.

The newest Stevi B’s Pizza Buffet is located at 1117 Highway 96 Suite #112  in Kathleen, Ga.

Operating hours are 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., Sunday – Thursday and 11 a.m. - 11 p.m., Friday – Saturday.

Donate to a Good Cause at the December Business After Hours Event

The Robins Regional Chamber, along with several other chambers throughout the Robins Region will join together with Middle Georgia Technical College to host December’s Business After Hours Event. 

The event will be held this Thursday, Dec. 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Middle Georgia Technical College located at 80 Cohen Walker Dr. in Warner Robins.

Chamber members and non-Chamber members as invited to attend.  As admission, please bring a toy in support of Christmas for Kids.  The items will be given to the charity to benefit local children.

Three Schools to Perform at Governor's Mansion

Three local schools have been selected to perform at the Governor’s mansion this month.

Morningside Elementary, Bonaire Middle and Warner Robins High will each perform at the Governor's Mansion. 

Schools from across the state are annually invited to perform for anyone touring the mansion. The December Holiday Celebration showcases instrumental and choral ensembles.  Selection is highly competitive because space is limited.  Only 48 time slots are available, which are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Houston County’s schools are scheduled to perform in the Governor’s mansion ballroom as follows:

Bonaire Middle – Dec. 10, 11:15 a.m. – 1:00 p.m

Warner Robins High – Dec. 13, 9:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.

Morningside Elementary- Dec. 16, 9:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.
