Annual Chamber Meeting to Feature Former Governor Perdue

The Robins Regional Chamber meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 20 at the Museum of Aviation.

Special honored guests Former Governor Mr. and Mrs. Perdue will be present.

Reservations can be made until Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Reservations are $40 per person for Chamber members and guests, $55 per non-chamber.

Awards to be presented include:

Charlie L. Jones Memorial Award, Citizen of the Year,

Sherrill Award, Good Government Service,

A.C. "Dick" Walden Award, Chamber Person of the Year,

Charles K. Shaheen Award, Small Business of the Year,

Edward Bayer Award, Outstanding Employee of the Year,

Heide Hubbard Award, Ambassador of the Year

Warner Robins Police Department to Offer Handgun Classes for Women

The Warner Robins Police Department will offer a three-part basic handgun class for women.

Topics will include Georgia law relating to private ownership and carry of handguns, handgun safety and handgun selection and maintenance as well as the basics of shooting a handgun.

Participants will choose between two classes:

January 18 and 20 from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. , January 22 8 a.m. until noon.

OR January 24 and 26 from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. and January 29 from 8 a.m. until noon.

The basic class is designed for individuals with little to no experience with handguns.

Small Business of the Year Award to be Presented at the Chamber's 61st Annual Meeting

The Small Business of the year Award, along with several others will be presented at the Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce’s 61st Annual Meeting; to be held on Thursday, January 20, 2010 in the Century of Flight Hangar at the Museum of Aviation. 

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for a brief social period prior to the dinner, which will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Each year at the Annual Meeting, the Chamber of Commerce presents several awards honoring those who demonstrated outstanding service to the Chamber. 

The prestigious awards include:  The Charles K. Shaheen Small Business of the Year Award, presented to one of the 2010 Small Business of the Month recipients for outstanding business achievement and exemplary service to the community;

Admission is $12.

Proceeds will be used to provide scholarships to be awarded Monday, Jan. 17 at the 15th Annual Martin Luther King Unity Breakfast.

Georgia Bob’s Barbecue Company to Host Chamber's January Business After Hours

The Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce would like to invite established members, new members and the general public as our guests to the January Business After Hours. 

The event, sponsored by Georgia Bob’s Barbecue Company, will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2011 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Cane River Vineyard; located at 144 Cane River Drive (next to Georgia Bob’s) in Byron. 

Promised to be an enjoyable evening, Georgia Bob’s Cane Rive Vineyard features wine tasting and an opportunity to browse its country store and boutique. 

The Cane River Vineyard also claims to be a great place to find unique gifts and specialties which represent the work and talents of the locals and the state of Georgia.  Items in the boutique include Georgia wines, BBQ sauces, sausage, cheeses, candles, nuts, jerky, wine accessories, artwork, relishes and jellies, to name a few.

Winter Blanket Drive-By to Benefit Local Homeless Animals

To donate items that will benefit local shelter and rescued animals, drop off items at Southwood Animal Hospital or Perry Animal Hospital.

Donations will be accepted until January 2, 2011 at 5 p.m.

Star Bright Animal Rescue & Sanctuary, Inc. will distribute the donations to local animal control facilities in Warner Robins and Perry as well as to other local rescue groups.

Items needed:

old blankets and comforters
old towels
dog and cat treats/toys
large, used crates
large, used dog houses
leashes and collars
dog and puppy food
cat and kitten food

Southwood Animal Hospital is located on Moody Rd. in Warner Robins and Perry Animal Hospital is located on Courtney Hodges Blvd. in Perry.
