Young Astronauts Day at the Museum of Aviation

A live hookup with the Kennedy Space Center in Florida will highlight the Annual Young Astronauts’ Day at the Museum of Aviation on Saturday, May 11.  The students will be welcomed by Colonel Mitch Butikofer from Robins Air Force Base.  The opening ceremony will feature Rachel B. Power, a NASA education specialist from Kennedy Space Center talking live to more than 200 first through eight-grade students on large digital learning network screens in the Century of Flight Hangar. 

Each student will then attend three different workshops around the Museum taught by Museum staff members and volunteer class leaders from Middle Georgia, Robins AFB and the Houston County School system. 

Young Astronauts Day sponsors are the Air Force Association, Belks, a NASA grant, Fort Valley State University Cooperative Development Energy Program, the NASA Regional Educator Resource Center and the Museum of Aviation Foundation.

Girl Scout Alumnae Reunion in Central Georgia

The Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia will hold a reunion on May 4 from 1-6 pm at Camp Martha Johnson in Lizella.  Alumnae will enjoy revisiting camp, renewing friendships, and helping to create a digital archive, according to a news release. 

The event is free. Donations for camp upkeep will be accepted.

WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Robins Regional Chamber’s Business of the Month Committee presented Lindsay Bailey, Annexation Specialist & Office Manager for Ocmulgee, Inc., with the Outstanding Employee Award for April 2013.  The award presentation is sponsored by Spherion Staffing Services of Middle Georgia.

“As an Ocmulgee employee, Lindsay is very involved with the Robins Regional, Perry and Milledgeville Chambers,” says Chad Bryant, Senior Principal and Project Designer for the company.  “She has always worn so many hats in our company and has always been willing to do whatever it takes to make us successful.”

Bryant says that Bailey is their marketing arm, business development rep., office manager, bookkeeper, clerical and annexation & zoning specialist.

Chamber Hosts Ribbon Cutting for Body Blyng

WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a Ribbon Cutting Body Blyng.

Started as a project by sisters Kin Hathcock and Pam Smith, Body Blyng offers professional face painting, and temporary body art for events and special occasions.

“We make an ordinary event into an extraordinary affair,” said Smith.  “From small birthday celebrations to church and school events, grand openings and customer appreciation days, Body Blyng can provide fun for all ages.”

Additionally, Body Blyng offers temporary glitter tatoos, temporary air brush tattoos, balloon twisting, and henna for events and parties.  They are licensed and insured.

A gala and auction is set to benefit CASA of Houston County.

That's on Friday, May 3 starting at 7 p.m.

"CASA's goal is to recruit, train, supervise and retain culturally responsive volunteers to advocate for the "best interest" of abused and neglected children in Houston County; one child at a time."

Chamber Hosts Ribbon Cutting for Newly Renovated Cox Solutions Store

WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting and grand re-opening for the newly renovated Cox Business Solutions Store.

Located at 2929 Watson Blvd in Warner Robins, Cox has been a huge partner with the Robins Regional Chamber Commerce and the entire Robins Region for over 20 years, employing nearly 150 people in the Middle Georgia area.
