To participate, bring 12 bags of two or three cookies each to exchange.  Bring the recipes to share as well.

Gottwals Books to Expand

Gottwals Books will celebrate the expansion and remodel of its Warner Robins store on Friday, Nov. 19 at 4 p.m.

The store is located on the corner of Carl Vinson and Russell Parkway (1806 Russell Parkway is the address)

The store took over the salon that closed next door. Gottwals will be going from about 2700 square feet to about 4500 square feet.

Mayor Chuck Shaheen will be there. Macon City Councilman Rick Hutto will also be there signing copies of his new book and the Cat and the Hat will be there for kids.

1st Annual Perry Auto Fest and Swap Meet

On Friday and Saturday, Nov. 12 and 13, the Perry Auto Fest and Swap Meet will be held at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter. Vendor gates open at 7 a.m. Spectator gates open at 8 a.m. Admission is $5 each day, and children 12 years and under are free.

Antique parts, collectables, tools, cars and trucks will be for sale.

Spectators can enter at the fairgrounds' West Gate.

City Hall Veterans Day Ceremony

Turner-Ragan American Legion Post 594 will host the Annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 11 at Warner Robins City Hall at 11 a.m.

9:00 a.m. Kicks off with Purple Pancake Breakfast

Complete with "create your own toppings" buffet, hot coffee and juice.

9:45 a.m. Walk Warm-up with a professional exercise instructor.

10 a.m. Walk Festivities

11:30 a.m. Awards Presentation & Closing Ceremony

Top fundraisers will be recognized.

In addition to the walk, music, refreshments, family fun activities and informational exhibits will be available.

Veterans Day 5K Race

Houston County 4-H is sponsoring a Veteran's Day 4-H 5K Race at The Georgia Agricenter and National Fairgrounds in Perry, Ga. on Thursday Nov. 11, 2010.

Entrance will be at the North Gate and registration will be at the clock tower at 2:45 p.m. The race will begin at 4:15 p.m. The race will occur around the perimeter of the grounds on pavement.

The race day registration fee is $20 for 4-H’ers and $25 for other runners. All proceeds will go to support 4-H and Houston County 4-H receives proceeds for every Houston County resident who registers.

T-Shirts will be provided for registered runners on race day while supplies last. For more information, contact the Houston County 4-H office at (478) 987-2028.
