Ham radio study session comes to Warner Robins

Ham radio study session comes to Warner Robins

Central Georgia Amateur Radio Emergency Service members hold a a cram study session in Warner Robins this month in preparation for the FCC amateur radio exam.

The exam will then be given at the end of the day, according to a release.

On April 26, the guided study, "broken into six 45-minute periods, will go over readion sections of the FCC question pool, with hourly breaks and lunch."

The class is at 8:30 a.m. at the Houston Medical Center and the exam starts at 4 p.m.

If you'd like to attend, the study session is free, but the exam fee is $15.

Defense officials have ordered a review of options that include consolidating commissaries and exchanges, as well as having commissaries adopt an “Exchange-like business model,” according to information obtained by Military Times.

Sergeant Randy EvansTwo WRPD officers received recognition at the 2014 Gold Shield Honor Awards.  The awards were presented at the 10th Annual Law Enforcement MADD GA Banquet in Atlanta on March 27th.

Congratulations to Sergeant Randy Evans for being named the Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) of the Year by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).  This recognition is "awarded to a DRE who has separated him/herself in the DRE program by keeping their training up to date, completing enforcement evaluations, and entering all evaluations into the IACP database."

Officer Darren Johnson also received recognition for being one of Georgia's "Officer DUI Heroes."  The award is given to the officer with the highest total of DUI arrests in their respective district.

WRPD to host Virtual Ride Along

WRPD to host Virtual Ride Along

You are invited to patrol the streets with an officer from the Warner Robins Police Department -- via Twitter!

The Warner Robins Police Department is hosting a Virtual Ride Along via Twitter on Wednesday, March 19th from 6:00 P.M. to 12:00 A.M. 

Public Information Officer Tabitha Clark will be riding with an officer and tweeting calls for service, arrests, and anything else the officer encounters during his shift.  Some tweets will include pictures and videos.

The Virtual Ride Along is designed to give the community a glimpse into the daily life of a police officer patrolling the streets of Warner Robins.  Citizens can view the ride along by following @WarnerRobinsPD on Twitter.

PIO Clark and the officer will be taking questions during the ride along from users who mention @WarnerRobinsPD in their tweet.  They will answer questions as time permits.
