My Teacher is Tops: Kevin Holt | Education

Kevin Holt, an 8th grade Georgia history teacher at Thomson Middle School in Centerville is this week's "My Teacher is Tops."

His student, Tenecia Nobles, nominated Holt, and said Holt made her interested in Social Studies.

Holt has been teaching at Thomson for nearly 10 years, and is also their baseball coach.

But Holt did not always want to be a teacher.  He began his career in golf course management, but later realized it wasn't about just money.

"I decided years ago to try to live a life of significance instead of success," says Holt.

Holt teaches Georgia History, a subject he says he enjoys having grown up in Warner Robins and having family history in the area.  He says his favorite historical  time period is the era of Andrew Jackson when America began expanding to the West.

Junior Journalist James Bernard Scott was on hand to present Holt with his award.
